Spiritually Speaking: Mermaids, Round Cards, and the Magic of Mental Clarity

On a personal note, I have to confess something: I get absolutely giddy on days when I pull cards that are different shapes! I have this deep love for round cards—like The Wild Unknown Archetypes we used today for "The Vision." Out of my entire collection, I think I have maybe five or six decks that are round, and I am always keeping a close eye out to add more whenever I'm shopping for new ones. There is just something so infinite and beautiful about them.

Today's reading is such a great one for me for another reason, too: The Tarot of the Mermaids. I have always been deeply drawn to mermaids. When I was little, they actually used to call me "the mermaid" because I was that kid at the beach who would swim way, way out into the deep blue ocean. The lifeguards would end up throwing me out of the water because they didn't want to have to swim that far to come and get me! They would yell at me all the time... and honestly, they still do! But there is just an undeniable freedom in the deep water.

That deep dive is exactly what the Knave of Swords is asking of us today. The Knave brings in this incredible, refreshing wave of mental clarity and a genuine thirst for the truth. When we talk about seeking the truth, what we are really talking about is stepping fully into your authentic self. We have seen this theme of stepping into your authentic self repeating all month long, and I don't believe in coincidences. I find it absolutely fascinating that the Universe is heavily pushing this alignment with authenticity right now, during May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month. Founded back in 1949, this month is entirely dedicated to promoting mental wellness. How incredible is it that the messages we are receiving from Spirit—messages of clearing our minds, dropping our masks, speaking our truth, and finding our inner wisdom—are in perfect sync with a broader focus on mental well-being?

I absolutely love it when we see things click together like those instances. The Universe is always, always in alignment.
